Children's Religious Education
A Unitarian Universalist education does not merely seek to transmit information and/or beliefs as "the one true way". It is an adventure in discovery, providing the tools for eventually making personal decisions about one's individual spirituality. Our ultimate goal is to help our children learn how to think about their lives in a religious and values-based context. While information is necessary, its transmittal is not our primary purpose. We hope to help our children and youth see themselves honestly and to understand the world around them. Our emphasis is that through such honesty, they will discover and develop a foundation of ethical values, concern for truth, respect for their freedom, for the freedom of others, and an intelligent love for humankind.
Religion is a universal calling. Through age-appropriate experiences and lessons, we aim to awaken and educate our children about the way others throughout the world have responded to that calling, and hope that they will, in turn, find their own level of spirituality as they grow into adulthood.
Should your children be too young for our church school classes, we provide a quiet nursery room with plenty of fun activities, monitored by skilled caregivers, open 10a.m. to noon.

Children's Religious Education Lessons
Religious Education (RE) for children and youth is underway. If you plan on having your child attend our RE program, you need to complete a registration form. Yearly registration is required for each child to provide current contact information and any information that will help us create a successful RE experience for your child.
Nursery for Infant & toddler-Childcare is provided in the RE Wing from 10a.m. to noon.
Preschool for 3 & 4 year old-Chalice Children curriculum is designed to help children learn about their church and congregation. Children gain a sense of belonging to their religious community and faith where they have concrete experiences with its people and places.
Lower Elementary for K-2nd Grade & Upper Elementary for 3-5th Grade-Our religious education classes have age-appropriate lessons. We are on a three year pillar system which begins with Unitarian Universalist study, Judaeo-Christianity study and World Religions study. We are now in our Unitarian Universalist rotation year of our pillar system with the emphasis on the history of Social Justice and how this fits with Unitarian Universalist history.
Junior High-Our Junior High Students have a strong fellowship and focus on special projects, field trips and our faith in action. Our juniors are selling reusable chalice bags as a special project. Juniors participate in the Church Pal program. This program is a letter writing event between a junior student and an adult from our congregation. This program encourages our adult members and juniors to have a friendship as part of the young person's growing journey. Our juniors sponsor an annual Spaghetti Dinner for our congregation & friends. They also have opportunities to participate in our worship services.
Senior High-Students typically are involved in community service, for example assisting at Forgotten Harvest, Habitat for Humanity, and with local clean-ups. Our youth also have the opportunity to participate in our Worship services. They meet in the evenings on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. On Sunday mornings they are encouraged to attend church at 10:30 a.m.
O.W.L. (Our Whole Lives)-Our junior and senior high students have the opportunity to attend O.W.L. classes. This is a sexuality education program to provide accurate and up-to-date sexuality information. The O.W.L. program includes age-appropriate sexuality education that includes discussions on healthy relationships.
Statement of Faith-Our seniors work with a mentor, the Minister, and the Religious Education Director to develop their own Statement of Faith based on their learning and beliefs. They then have the option to present their project to the congregation.
Time for All Ages-Every other Sunday our students meet in the church for a story with Rev. Mitra and hear a special message.
