What to Expect
Sunday Services at GPUC always begin promptly at 10:30 AM, and generally average one hour in length. Our "full service" church year runs concurrently with the Grosse Pointe area school calendar, from September to June.
Approximately once a month during the regular church year, a guest speaker stands in for Rev. Alex Riegel at the pulpit, offering a different perspective. Often this is a visiting minister or associate from another Unitarian church; occasionally, it is a lay speaker with a compelling topic. You can get a preview of what to expect by visiting the "Sermons and Services" list on the home page of this site. Most of our services are recorded, including the sermons, and they can be easily played or downloaded as Mp3 files.
Children are always welcome, and visiting children can even sit in with an age-appropriate class in the Religious Education wing. For the sake of preserving a quiet environment during services, our glass-walled gallery area immediately outside the Chapel is available for those with a restless child or infant, and nursery care is always available. Our new sound system enables you to hear and participate fully from that Gallery area. If you are hearing or vision-impaired, amplification aids and large-print hymnals are available in the foyer. Our new unisex ADA-compliant restroom is available as needed, and we are very welcoming to the LGBTQ community.
Please try us out, on any given Sunday. We LOVE visitors, and we REALLY love visitors who become members!
